A very good laptop, especially if you are not a demanding gamer.
20 July 2019
I've been using the laptop for a little over a month. I got it for gaming and watching videos online, etc. I really liked the design and appearance, although the surface smudges a bit, but that's minor. I was also pleased with the "windows" in the case for the HDD and RAM... though for some, it might seem like a drawback. The screen is bright and in my opinion, quite decent; at least I liked everything about it. The keys press well and the backlighting is very handy in the evenings, BUT since the letters on the keys are transparent, it’s very hard to see them without backlighting even during the day. The ports are sufficient for me, although they are a bit tight, so inserting a flash drive or headphones is a bit tough. As for games, I can confidently say that most games run on medium settings... I can say that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt runs at a comfortable 30-35 FPS, NFS: Payback at ~60-70 FPS, Mass Effect: Andromeda at ~60 FPS. Games were played on medium-high settings. It was very comfortable to play, with no "freezes" or "lags." Another highlight is the cooling system, which can be controlled via a built-in application (by the way, the cooling is a bit noisy under load but works great), and updating drivers surprisingly turned out to be very convenient, as updates go through one application. If necessary, you can manually download all drivers from the official website: for the graphics card - from the AMD site; for the laptop - from the Acer site. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the purchase and recommend it to those who like to play but are not chasing graphics.
- Appearance and build quality
- Good sound
- Decent performance (for a laptop)
- Presence of backlighting
- Large touchpad (might be important to someone)
- Adequate cooling
- Simple driver update procedure
- Quick access windows for HDD and RAM
- Maybe it's just in my model, but I got a laptop with 2 memory cards of 4GB each, meaning the laptop already operates in dual-channel mode (though personally, I expected a single 8GB card for an upgrade, so this point depends on preference)... by the way, the cards support up to 2666 MHz frequency
- Low price compared to competitors with Intel + GeForce
- Initially, the ports may be tight
- Without backlighting, the keys are almost unrecognizable
- Initially, it might not be very clear how to update things, but later it becomes very convenient (there's always the internet, if needed)
- Some people have experienced poor switching between graphics cards... if needed, this can be fixed by manually updating both cards directly from the device manager + updating drivers and Windows
- Noisy cooling system under load
