Model overview based on user reviews
The Acer Nitro VG240Ybmiix 24" monitor is a well-regarded choice for both gamers and photographers, offering natural colors and good brightness with its IPS panel. Users appreciate its thin bezels and sleek design, which allow for an almost frameless experience. The monitor features a refresh rate of 75 Hz and a response time of 1 ms (MPRT), making it suitable for gaming, especially in fast-paced genres like shooters. While the built-in speakers are not very loud, they are a welcome addition. Some users note a visible pixel grid at 75 Hz, which can be resolved by switching to 60 Hz. The monitor's price is a point of contention, with some feeling it is slightly high, but overall, it is considered a good value for its features. The monitor also includes useful connectivity options like two HDMI ports and a VGA connector.

great model, love it

I bought it to replace my Acer P203w and after turning it on, I was euphoric. The monitor perfectly conveys the color range in games and movies, as well as when working with video. The matrix is excellent and the eye protection system (which I thought was a marketing gimmick) actually works, as my eyes were hardly tired after 6 hours of gaming. It's also worth noting the pleasant design and extensive functionality of settings, which allows for fine calibration of the monitor. There is only one issue, how do I set up the damn speakers??? No, I don't need them at all, but I would like to check them.
- thin bezel, almost bezel-less monitor
- wide range of settings
- excellent matrix with high-quality color reproduction
- pleasant design
- eyes barely get tired during long work sessions
Given the price they are not.

I have been using the monitor for 1 year and can confidently recommend it for purchase.

A very good monitor, used for gaming and watching movies. The monitor was pleased with the correct colors and screen refresh rate of 75 Hz, as well as a response time of 1 ms, which is very good for an IPS matrix. It’s comfortable to play shooters and watch movies on the monitor; the picture is very juicy and large. The monitor is also suitable for working with photos and videos. There are quite good built-in speakers. The back cover is made of very high quality plastic that does not stink. There are 2 HDMI ports and even a VGA connector, as well as a mini-Jack input and output (3.5 mm).
Beautiful picture, response time and screen refresh rate, as well as the presence of built-in speakers.
At 75 Hz, a vertical pixel grid is visible on light blues and blues, but this is solved by turning on 60 Hz.

Good monitor with correct colors and 75Hz. The frames are thin, the back and front are made of plastic. The plastic itself is of high quality, does not creak, does not stink. The legs were made red, like in a game style. Well, it is, the most important thing here is hidden in the matrix. It shows correct, natural colors, which is very suitable for me for photo processing. To many, these colors may seem a little dull or even cold, but this is exactly what the photographer needs. I really like that here 75 Hz, in games you can feel the difference between 60 Hz. Especially in shooters. Speakers are built into the monitors, not very loud, but thanks for such. The control menu is convenient, there are 6 different modes, 2 of which are quickly customizable. They even added a VGA connector here)) I don’t know why it’s in 2019, but it’s here)
Natural colors. Good brightness. The black color is not super deep, but it is good for an IPS matrix. There are speakers, headphone jacks, etc. 75 Hz. Nice looking and thin bezels.
Still, the price is a bit high in my opinion. The quality here is undeniably good, but in my opinion its price should be around $100.

What should be an affordable gaming monitor

What do we need from an inexpensive gaming monitor? The sweep frequency is higher than the standard 60 Hz. Ideally 120 – 144, but 75 Hz will do. What else? To make the matrix fast, less than 4 ms. Well, don't forget about support for useful things like AMD FreeSync. It is this set for low-cost gamers that carries the affordable Acer VG240Y gaming monitor, which belongs to the popular Nitro line.

1ms response time with MPRT

To some extent, the VG240Y even anticipates expectations, because if you measure the response time not by the popular grey-to-grey method, but more suitable for MPRT (motion picture response time) games, then the matrix speed will be 1 ms. It is clear that this is not pure 1 ms, as in expensive gaming monitors, but for not the fastest IPS matrices this is a good result. Well, do not forget that this handsome man costs only $150, and in these waters, models with fast matrices do not swim at all. The rest of the Acer Nitro VG240Y looks quite modern: a 24-inch matrix displays a picture with FullHD resolution, and the brightness, contrast and colour performance are at an adequate level for this class. The image looks quite nice, although many people do not really like the cold tint. However, this can be tweaked in the settings.

Zero Frame Design

In terms of additional functions, the monitor does not shine, it is not supposed to by its status. There are a couple of built-in speakers, which are not to say that they are very necessary, but they will not be superfluous either. Instead of one HDMI port, there are two. A standard VESA mount allows you to hang the monitor on the wall. Finally, let's praise the appearance of the Acer Nitro VG240Y: it is made in accordance with the Zero Frame concept, which, thanks to thin side frames, allows you to combine several adjacent displays into one large screen. The frames on the sides and top are really barely noticeable here, which fully allows us to call this model frameless.
