Style and touch
Not the most up-to-date, but still interesting, the Acer Spin 5 is almost a designer convertible laptop with a matte polished finish on the top and bottom. It is equipped with a 13.3-inch IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, good contrast and brightness (1170:1 and 230 cd/m2 respectively), as well as support for the Active Pen stylus. But the colour reproduction is at a mediocre level — only 59% in sRGB.
Almost super speed
The laptop is powered by an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, dual-core and quad-thread with frequencies up to 3.5 GHz, as well as an HD Graphics 620 video core, 8 GB of RAM (expandable up to 16 GB) and an M.2 SSD (not NVMe, which is sad) with a capacity of 256 GB. The processor is outdated, there is no discrete graphics, but the amount of RAM will be enough for work tasks.
Compromise after compromise
In addition to a pair of USB 2.0, one USB 3.0 and full HDMI, the laptop is equipped with a Kensington lock and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. But the card reader accepts only the microSD format, which is an unacceptable omission for a laptop at this price. This is partially offset by support for high-speed Wi-Fi standard ac and Bluetooth 4.1. The keyboard is quite dense and pleasant, even the backlighting of the keys is available, but typing on it will take some getting used to due to tight pressing. A 49 Wh battery is enough for 7 to 8 hours of FullHD video playback and up to 3.5 hours of heavy work tasks.
