Clock frequency 3200 MHz. Effective radiators. Overclocking potential of Samsung B-die chips.

Dual-channel memory module kit of DDR4 standard, capable of guaranteed operation at an effective clock frequency of 3200 MHz. It consists of two single-sided modules with a capacity of 8 GB each (total 16 GB). Marketed by the manufacturer as a mid-range product, it is geared toward demanding gamers and enthusiasts who know how to maximize performance from their hardware.

Designed for installation in high-performance multipurpose home and gaming systems. Thanks to the stated high clock frequency of 3200 MHz, it demonstrates a high bandwidth of up to 25.6 Gbps. Upon installation, the modules operate in default mode DDR4-2133 with timings of CL15-15-15-35 at 1.2V. For automatic installation of the high-speed mode (DDR4-3200 with CL16-16-16-38 at 1.35V), a motherboard with full support for XMP 2.0 technology is required.

If XMP support is absent, configuration can be performed by manually setting the corresponding parameters in UEFI BIOS. The Patriot Memory Viper Steel DDR4 2x8Gb PVS416G320C6K memory module kit offers high compatibility and can operate in systems based on Intel Core CPUs (from 6th to 12th generation) as well as AMD Ryzen CPUs (Zen/Zen2/Zen3). For stable overclocked operation, there is a passive cooling radiator.

How to choose RAM?Tips for choosing the optimal RAM parameters that will ensure stable operation and PC performance
Model overview based on user reviews
The Patriot Memory Viper Steel DDR4 2x8Gb RAM offers a low price point for its advertised high frequencies, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious users. However, many users report that the XMP profiles often do not work as advertised, requiring manual adjustments in the BIOS to achieve stable performance. The memory modules are available with different chip types, such as Hynix and Samsung b-die, which can affect performance and stability. While some users successfully achieve the advertised speeds with manual tweaking, others experience stability issues and crashes, particularly when attempting to reach higher frequencies. The RAM's design is appreciated for its stylish look without flashy lights, but the heatsinks are noted to be more decorative than functional. Overall, this RAM is suitable for those who are comfortable with hardware adjustments and are willing to experiment to achieve optimal performance.

Buy XMP 3200 dies, not XMP 3000.
8 March 2021
I have a plate that wound up at 3000 at 3400 (16-19-19-36) in a single channel, but a plate with the same heatsink but xmp at 3200 wound up at 3800 (18-20-20-40), and this despite the fact that the difference in cost is 100 rubles, now let people go away who shouted to me in their reviewers that the XMP profile does not solve and you can simply overclock it to the level of a more expensive model. By the way, I'm one of those who are ready to dig, so I don't know how you will be with the frequencies.
Aesthetic radiator, I managed to get good frequencies
The fact that I saved 100 rubles and did not buy 2 dice for 3200
great model, love it

I bought a 3200Mhz kit. Excellent frequency memory holds, I had to spend a couple of minutes to set it up in the BIOS, but there is nothing complicated there, I advise you to manually set the voltage to 1.35 right away so that it works stably with Xmp.
Works at advertised frequencies

Motherboard b450 pro4, processor ryzen 5 3400g. In slots 1 and 3, the xmp profile did not work, but in slots 2 and 4 everything worked (xmp 3000 cl16). I didn't try overclocking because it was assembled for multimedia and browsing needs, but with the possibility of upgrading for gaming. Pay attention to which slots you insert the memory, it's very important, not the first time I've encountered this.
Low price.

Steel Giant

Memory designers have always had a tough time: they need to come up with something that looks good on the box and better than competitors'. Therefore, heavy artillery in the form of RGB lighting and unusual, but not always appropriate, heatsinks stepped in. The Viper Steel kit from Patriot managed to stand out even against this backdrop: massive aluminum heatsinks painted to resemble gunmetal steel look futuristic without being gaudy, resembling either a Transformers logo or a new gadget from Batman's suit in the Arkham Knight game.

3200 MHz at the price of regular office RAM

Although the kit we are considering is an entry-level solution in the Viper Steel line, even the base model of the series starts at a frequency of 3000 MHz. Moreover, a pair of 8 GB sticks at 3200 MHz is offered for practically the same money as the simplest "office" memory like Crucial Value. Moreover, its potential unsurprisingly turned out to be higher than many mass-market solutions and by tweaking the XMP profiles allows stable operation at a frequency of 3600 MHz. With manual settings, the results will be slightly higher, but this depends on one's luck with a specific memory module.

Look for options with Samsung memory

And now, one important nuance. The fact is, under the heatsinks, there can be either the RAM chips favored by all enthusiasts, Samsung B-die, or options with Hynix memory. It's precisely the first option you should look for, as Hynix memory can be temperamental, refusing to work with the chosen XMP profile. Of course, you can go old school, enter the BIOS, and manually tweak the voltage and timings, but why bother if you can avoid it?
