The Dell brand's line of laptops represents the proprietary Latitude series, which combines portable PCs designed for work and/or business. The family includes a large selection of modifications, so there are both budget laptops for budget-conscious buyers, and advanced class models for the most demanding users. All laptops are equipped with a 15.6-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels.

The display features thin bezels, a standard 60Hz refresh rate, and basic contrast and brightness settings. Dell Latitude 15 5540 laptops are based on the 13th generation Intel platform (Raptor Lake). Low-end configurations use a 10-core Core i5 processor with a clock frequency of 0.9 GHz and an integrated Iris Xe Graphics graphics adapter. Older modifications can offer a more powerful Core i7 engine with 14 cores 1.4 GHz and a more powerful built-in video accelerator.

The filling also includes from 8 to 32 GB of RAM, an SSD M.2 solid-state drive (maximum 1 TB), a 4737 mAh battery with support for fast charging and power supply for USB C-connected mobile devices and peripherals. Additional features of the models in the line include the light weight of the case (1.6 kg), since it contains plastic and aluminium, a white keyboard backlight, a webcam with Full HD resolution, and a variety of Internet connections (there is both a gigabit LAN port and a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax)). A rich set of wired interfaces deserves special mention, including a pair of Thunderbolt v4 ports.
