Can be used as an Epson Micro Piezo monochrome/color inkjet printer, A4 flatbed scanner, and copier with fast scaling capability. It features a new generation of factory continuous ink supply system (CISS) with frontal tanks, containers with a built-in valve that protects against accidental spills and an improved Key Lock refill system.

It is positioned by the manufacturer as a product of the middle price category, aimed at demanding users who need a versatile inkjet processor with a modest cost of printing and copying monochrome / color documents. The attractive cost of ownership of the Epson EcoTank ET-2820 MFP is explained by the fact that the cost of ink containers is much less than the price of branded cartridges, while the ink in the containers is 8-10 times more. Thanks to the proprietary Ink Lock and Key Lock technologies, any user can fill it on their own. The reliable paper path mechanism can handle a variety of paper weights from 64 to 256 g/m² (special heavy paper is used for photorealistic output).
