Fujifilm has taken a special path in creating mirrorless cameras with high-resolution sensors. From cropped APS-C sensors, it immediately moved to medium format, resulting in the appearance of the uncompromising flagship Fuji GFX-50S to the public. In 2018, a slightly cheaper version of this “medium format” saw the light of day, designated by the GFX-50R model index.
For the sake of availability
The key differences between the two generations of the mirrorless medium format are in the looks. The flagship extract has lost its removable viewfinder (which is now built into the body of the camera) and the four-position joystick. In return, the latter is invited to enjoy all the benefits of a touch screen, imprisoned in a frame of immodest frames. For the convenience of sighting from the upper and lower angles, the display of the model is made inclined.
mesmerizing detail
The hardware Fuji GFX-50R has not undergone a downgrade. “Under the hood” of the camera is a 51.4 MP matrix with physical dimensions of 43.8x32.9 mm, the standard ISO range of which is 100-12400 units. The detail of the image formed by the sensor is truly off scale. However, as well as the dynamic range of images.
Measured style
A 117-point contrast autofocus system helps to focus the camera on sharpness. It performs its work sedately and imposingly, so you can’t count on fast autofocus responsiveness when shooting highly dynamic scenes. By analogy, things are modest with the rate of fire (3 fps) and video recording (maximum FullHD resolution at 30 fps). Still, the main role of the camera is the creation of photographs. And in this matter, the Fuji GFX-50R is really ahead of the rest. The camera is no longer so cumbersome to "live" in the studio all the time and is ready to solve professional problems in almost any genre of photography.
