The Three II audio system from the American manufacturer Klipsch is a stylish design solution for full-fledged sounding of a small room in loft and retro interiors.

Vintage appearance

The clean rectangular cabinet is about the size of a shoebox and is available in black or brown wood grain lacquer finishes, reminiscent of a vintage radio. Small wide legs provide stability to the product, and a thick matting grill on the front and sides protects from dust and at the same time is a decoration.

Gold-plated or chrome-plated control knobs are located on the top cover of the case, which can serve as a stand for small items. Everything looks simple and uncomplicated, while being stylish, although not for everyone.

Features

To match the external archaism, the manufacturer decided not to overload the system with wireless connections. Unlike The Three of the first generation, which had both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, The Three II decided to get rid of Wi-Fi! The reason for this is quite weighty: the Wi-Fi module creates a lot of interference for the analogue path, which negatively affects the sound. But Bluetooth supports the AptX codec, and the model also has an RCA connector, which, when switched to Phono mode, can be used to play music from vinyls that do not have their own phono stage.

The manufacturer did not forget about the traditional mini-Jack (3.5 mm) and USB Type B for reading from a Flash drive, and provided a compact remote control for remote control.

hi-fi sound

But the most important thing is how Klipsch The Three sounds. A 133 mm woofer with two passive radiators and 2 woofer/tweeters with a diameter of 57 mm produce a total power of 120 watts in a frequency range of 45 – 20000 Hz. The detailing is just amazing! Despite the outward vintageness, it is not in the sound, the mids do not prevail. The entire working range is worked out clearly, the bass is not overloaded, it is dense and elastic, the midrange is transparent, and the highs are not cut off and sound bright and clear.

Another fly in the ointment, in addition to the lack of Wi-Fi, will seem to someone to be powered exclusively from the network. But it’s hard to call this a disadvantage, since the Klipsch The Three II was not planned as a portable speaker.

Otherwise, we have a very worthy device for a small amount of money for its category — about $500. Although an amateur because of the vintage design.
