A compact, high-performance professional-grade M.2 SSD drive with 4 TB of memory. The device is built on the Maxio MAP1602 controller and uses advanced and reliable 232-layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory from YMTC as a basis. The Lexar NM790 is part of the 2023 Lexar NM series and belongs to the upper price segment. According to the manufacturer, it guarantees uncompromising performance and is aimed at the most demanding gamers, overclocking enthusiasts, coders, designers, artists and other users who need a sufficiently powerful and productive PC for work.
The SSD also meets the official requirements of the Sony PlayStation 5 console. Thanks to the PCIe 4.0 bus and the NVMe 1.4 protocol, the Lexar NM790 is capable of reading data at a speed of 7400 MB/s, while the device's write speed reaches 6400 MB/s. These figures are many times higher than the capabilities of the SATA 3 interface and several times faster than the operating speeds of more affordable SSD drives with the PCIe 3.0 interface.
Support for dynamic SLC cache ensures high performance when writing data, and Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology reduces latency, which is especially important when processing large amounts of information. The expanded storage capacity of 4 TB provides a solid reserve for storing a collection of 4K movies, a large game library or work projects in Photoshop, Resolve, Ableton and other professional applications. The Lexar NM790 is a fast PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD suited to gaming, everyday workloads, laptops, desktops, and PS5. It combines strong real-world performance with very good power efficiency, while the 3D TLC NAND offers a solid alternative to QLC at higher capacities. The DRAM-less design keeps power use low but can reduce random-write performance, and heavy sustained workloads may cause thermal throttling. Heatsink and bare versions are available.

I've been using it for over a year. The SSD is used exclusively for games. It doesn't overheat, and it's fast. Although, the price today is shocking. Whether it's worth today's money - everyone decides for themselves. For the money (around 3,000 EUR) when I bought it - definitely yes.
