A real hit of the 2018 season in a fashionable frameless form factor. Possessing almost the same dimensions as the classic Meizu M6, the model with the “s” prefix has got at its disposal a half-inch larger diagonal display (5.7"). In addition, it is widescreen and displays a picture in a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. A virtual key with mBack pressure recognition is built into the bottom of the screen, as a result of which the fingerprint scanner was forced to “move” to the side of the metal case of the smartphone. The second major innovation is the use of the 6-core Samsung Exynos 7872 processor as the “heart” of the hardware platform. In conjunction with it, 3 GB of “RAM” and ARM Mali-G71 MP3 graphics work, providing a decent margin of performance both for performing everyday tasks and f...or turning games. The cameras on board Meizu M6s 64GB are represented by a 16-megapixel main module with an f / 2.0 aperture and a front camera with a resolution of 8 MP. The device is powered by a 3000 mAh non-removable battery with support for fast charging.

Upgrade Time

After 5 – 6 months from the release of the next smartphone, Meizu has a tradition of releasing a modified model with the “s” index. As the name suggests, the M6s is a redesigned version of the Meizu M6, which added thin side bezels, improved the screen, and changed its proportions towards the trendy 18:9 ratio.

5.7 inch IPS screen

With a diagonal of 5.7", the IPS screen has a resolution of HD+ (1440x720 pixels) and a pixel density of 282 ppi. The resolution is not the highest, but due to the size in everyday use it is not felt. IPS matrix has excellent viewing angles, displays a bright, and most importantly natural picture. In general, the screen, although not perfect, is very suitable for a low-cost smartphone.

Samsung Exynos 7872 and 3 GB of RAM

Compared to the Meizu M6, the hardware has also been upgraded a bit. The processor is Samsung Exynos 7872 with 3 GB of RAM — a balanced solution for everyday tasks, the smartphone is not suitable for demanding games. The amount of internal memory is 64 GB and can be expanded using memory cards.

Fast charging and side fingerprint scanner

The smartphone has not the largest, but quite standard for this class, 3000 mAh battery, which, thanks to the optimal filling, can withstand one and a half to two days of work. Otherwise, in terms of Meizu M6s, it does not surprise or disappoint in any way — a single mid-range camera, there is a fingerprint scanner (it's on the side), there is Meizu mCharge fast charging, USB-C and NFC, unfortunately, no.

metal case

But what is really unusual here is the all-aluminium body. Especially among smartphones for $150. In the current realm of glass and plastic, this option looks like a black sheep, and can be a serious advantage when choosing. Still, the metal case gives the smartphone additional strength, and it doesn’t scratch as much as a fashionable gloss with a gradient colour.
