Working principle — BBS

Universal underwater metal detector with multi-frequency detection technology for coin and historical search. Low frequencies detect large targets well at great depths, and high frequencies detect small metals that are not detected by conventional detectors. At the same time, the detector works steadily on highly mineralized soil or salt water, allowing you to distinguish gold / silver from ferrous metals and alloys.

It is positioned as a product of the upper price category in 2014, focused on professional use. Full protection against water penetration allows you to dive to a depth of 60 m. It does an excellent job of searching on land. Supplied with a high quality 8" or 10" round DoubleD detector. Since the Minelab Excalibur II metal detector is an underwater search device, it does not have a speaker and a display, and all information about the target comes through waterproof headphones. The controls are located along the entire length of the control unit, and all settings are made by five regulators. Power is supplied from a proprietary NiMH battery or 8 AA alkaline batteries. Battery life 14-19 hours.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Minelab Excalibur II is a highly regarded underwater metal detector, praised for its ability to detect small items like gold earrings weighing about 1 gram and larger items such as silver and gold from 2 grams. It features a robust design with a maximum operating depth of 60 meters and offers 17 detection frequencies ranging from 1.5 to 25.5 kHz, making it versatile for various underwater searches. Users appreciate its ease of use and effective performance in water, although some note that it can be challenging to use on land, missing targets that other detectors might catch. The device is equipped with features like automatic ground balance, sensitivity adjustment, and tone identification, enhancing its usability. However, there are concerns about the battery life, as the native battery may not last the advertised 10 hours, and repair services can be hard to find after extended use. Overall, the Excalibur II is recommended for its underwater capabilities, slowly justifying its investment over time.

good model, I liked it.

Well, in general, a good metal detector for an underwater detective. Slowly justifies its investment.
I won’t say anything about finding 1 gram, I think he doesn’t see such a goal. But silver, gold picks up from 2 grams. Coins, corks, foil. And where without them. Yes, and the watch came across in working order.
On land, it is hard to work with him, he misses targets that the X-terra705 calmly takes in tandem with a sniper coil. And the native battery does not hold 10 hours of operation.

I recommend
Picks up any small items in the water. A gold earring weighing about 1 g was found easily. We've been using it for 3 years.
Not specifically detected.

Great device, easy to get used to
I worked for two years, no one undertakes to repair it, but I don’t want to get used to it again. I'll have to buy another one...
