Metal detectors with Pin-Point mode

Static mode (target designation)

— a special mode found in metal detectors of the VLF and VFLEX systems (see "Operating principle"). In standard mode, such a device is able to detect metal objects only if the coil is constantly moving at a fairly high speed. This simplifies the work of the discriminator (see the relevant paragraph), but the location of the find in this way can only be determined very approximately. To improve accuracy, it may be possible to switch to Pin-Point mode, when the coil effectively responds to metal objects even when stationary. In this mode, you can localize the find with an accuracy of a couple of centimeters and not dig up extra volumes of earth, taking it out. However the discriminator becomes ineffective in this case, but this cannot be called a disadvantage — it is assumed that the find was successfully identified during the initial search, in the usual mode, and in Pin-Point we are no longer talking about identification, but about clarifying the location.

Separately, we note that this function is not found in pinpointers (see "Type") — such devices, in fact, initially work in a format of increased accuracy, and they do not require additional modes.
