I have an old Passat with 20-year-old factory speakers. Yes, they play fine, don't rattle, even despite their age, but the sound quality is borderline between okay and not so great. I decided to treat myself and buy new speakers. I spent a long time choosing, listened to some, didn't listen to others. I concluded that these Morels are the best in terms of price/quality. Predominant mid frequencies, bright and juicy bass, work without an amplifier, and handle complex compositions well. After getting home, I don't want to get out of the car, because I want to keep listening. Of course, a simple non-processor head unit couldn't fully reveal them. So over time, I ended up getting a processor unit. But even that initial head unit paired with them pretty well. It took about a week for them to break in. I even had doubts - did I make the right choice? But in reality, they just needed time, and they started sounding much better. The included tweeters are very good. They don't overshadow or dominate. Even if they aren't directly targeted, the sound is still expansive. Considering that I didn't add any soundproofing, these speakers significantly changed the sound quality. I highly recommend them as a mid/budget option if you don't plan to install an amplifier. At maximum volume, they are 10-15% quieter than the factory ones, but the craftsmanship, sound quality, fullness, everything is so much higher that volume becomes a lesser priority. All frequencies are good here. There is no obvious predominance, even though the mids perform better than the lows and highs. This simply creates balance, making the music more vibrant. Quality craftsmanship. Excellent grilles included. Tweeters of decent quality. They pair well with a standard 50W head unit. Acceptable price for their quality.
