The 2025 debut from the OnePlus brand is the 4th generation of True wireless headphones, which belong to the mid-price category solutions. The in-ear model comes with a standard package including a charging case (with a USB-C port) and cable, as well as three pairs of silicone tips of different sizes for optimum ear fit. The OnePlus Buds 4 are equipped with hybrid drivers and have received Hi-Res Audio certification, confirming their high sound quality.
Another feature is adaptive noise cancellation with automatic adjustment to environmental conditions. Additionally, the ENC function is implemented for the microphones (three on each side) to enhance call quality. The model is distinguished by a low sound delay of up to 47 ms, making it suitable for gaming. Besides touch controls, there's also interaction with Google Assistant and volume adjustment via gestures, while advanced settings are available in the brand’s smartphone app — HeyMelody.
Notably, it has IP55 water resistance, auto-pause, and Multipoint functions for convenient pairing with multiple gadgets. With the charging case, battery life can reach up to 45 hours (with noise cancellation off), and fast charging is available — 10 minutes of charging provides up to 11 hours of use. The model is mediocre for its price. For an extra 30 EUR, I expected a real improvement in sound compared to my Realme Buds Air 6 Pro. But it turned out that Realme had a more cohesive and detailed sound. For the OnePlus, the bass is just overwhelming, and the detail for this price is terrible. In short, I'm disappointed that I got them. Take the same songs by the band Rammstein, for example. In Realme, the guitar roar is perfectly and clearly played, while in OnePlus, the sound just turns into a mess. I tried to enhance the sound with an equalizer, and it's still not right. I recommend looking towards brands that have been in the sound market for a long time, like Sony or Sennheiser. If your budget is really tight, then go with Realme. My previous ones were Redmi Buds 4 Active, decided to buy flagships from OnePlus because I've been a fan of this brand for a long time. OnePlus lasts with noise cancellation for around 5+ hours, without it for 11 hours, which shocked me. Very comfortable, nothing feels tight. Strong bass. Cool sound quality, good noise cancellation. I've been using it for about 9 months and I'm completely satisfied. It's a pity that my phone only supports LHDC 3 and not LHDC 5; these headphones work on AAC on my phone. However, the OnePlus Nord 5 supports this standard. Therefore, it's necessary to check if the phone supports the LHDC 5 version if needed. I seldom use this codec.
