"The new 10.1-megapixel LUMIX DMC-FZ50 camera equipped with a LEICA DC lens with a 12x optical zoom (35-420mm 35mm equivalent) and aperture of f/2.8. The DMC-FZ50 is equipped with a 10.1-megapixel CCD with high resolution.

It also uses the Venus Engine III image processor, which allows you to record images at a maximum sensitivity of ISO 1600 at full resolution. In addition, the significant reduction in image noise compared to the previous model allows the DMC-FZ50 to record images at full 10.1-megapixel resolution even at high sensitivity.

In an effort to get rid of the main cause of blurry frames, Panasonic has developed the MEGA_O.IS Optical Image Stabilization System, which uses the latest technology to compensate for camera shake caused by involuntary hand shake. This feature has become standard on all LUMIX cameras.

In addition, to compensate for the second major cause of fuzzy images, subject movement, the FZ50 features the world's first Intelligent ISO Control (hereinafter IIC) and advanced Venus Engine III image processor with a maximum sensitivity of ISO 1600 at full resolution.

When the IIC system is used, the Venus Engine III detects the subject's movement and automatically adjusts the ISO sensitivity setting and shutter speed to capture moving subjects clearly in certain lighting conditions. Panasonic's excellent image stabilization system allows you to capture clear images in all situations without interfering with the operation of the camera."

LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens

The Leica DC lens inherits not only the name, but also the exceptional quality of Leica optics, which has become a legend in the world of film cameras due to its excellent performance and compact size. LUMIX cameras use LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT and LEICA DC SUMMICRON lenses. Their optical system includes aspherical lenses to compensate for spherical distortion. In addition, multi-coated lens technology prevents image fogging, which can be caused by glare and reflections resulting from excessive lighting.



Optical Image Stabilizer OIS / MEGA OIS

Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) maintains high quality and clarity even when zoomed in
OIS improves image clarity by compensating for hand-shake when shooting. Gyroscopic sensors detect the amount and direction of the hand shift, and the linear motor adjusts the lenses accordingly to compensate for this shift. While electronic systems correct for the effect of hand-shake on the CCD itself, the optical image stabilization system works before recording to the CCD, with little to no effect on image sharpness or lens angle of view. And because this operation is performed in real time about 500 times per second, it eliminates the blurry edges or unnatural colours that can't be avoided with the complementary method. What's more, you'll get a clean, crisp image even when shooting wide-angle or zooming too far.

The OIS/MEGA OIS lenses move up-down or right-left and change the direction of the incoming light beam to compensate for operator hand shake.

MEGA OIS ensures image clarity and hand shake compensation even in MEGA pixel shooting
MEGA OIS is a further development of OIS technology. Complemented by a sensitivity selector, MEGA OIS technology provides twice the effective compensation of hand-shake in still photography compared to OIS in video. The MEGA OIS system is especially useful for close-up photography, as well as in low light conditions.
