Comfortable and high-quality sounding closed-back wireless headphones with a practical folding design. The manufacturer is positioned as a branded bluetooth model of the middle price category, designed to work with the widest range of smartphones, tablets and laptops running iOS, Android and Windows operating systems. Made of high-impact white or black plastic, they are equipped with swivel earcups and soft ear cushions trimmed with delicate faux leather.

The elastic headband provides a moderate clamping force that does not cause discomfort during prolonged use. Powerful dynamic drivers with a diameter of 40 mm with neodymium magnets and polymer domes are capable of producing a pleasant sound with a pronounced bass accent. Thanks to this design, the Philips TAH5205 headphones produce loud and detailed sound from most popular music genres (pop/club/electronic/dance and hip-hop sounds especially good).

Model overview based on user reviews
The Philips TAH5205 headphones offer a convenient folding design and good sound quality, making them appealing for everyday use. They are lightweight, hold a charge for a long time, and are comfortable to wear. However, several users have reported issues with the plastic construction, noting that it is flimsy and prone to cracking, especially around the hinges and mounting points. Some users experienced defects such as broken brackets and cracks within a few months of use. Despite these durability concerns, the headphones provide adequate sound insulation and are suitable for various music genres. The package includes a USB-C cable and an aux cable, although the latter may not support microphone transmission. Overall, while the Philips TAH5205 headphones are budget-friendly and offer decent sound, potential buyers should be cautious about their build quality.

normal model, nothing special
8 April 2023
I have been using them for 5 months now. However, these are my second pair of headphones; I returned the first due to a defect, as the wire came off at the headband, and the headband size couldn’t be adjusted. The second pair didn't have these issues, but the plastic construction itself is quite flimsy.

The headphones have good sound, but there is a background noise when nothing is playing, something like a ticking at about a one-second interval, which is not audible when listening to music.

The package includes a type-c cable and an aux, but it's a 3-pin, so it won't transmit microphone sound, or maybe it can, I'm not sure, I haven't checked with a 4-pin.

In the fifth month, I noticed two cracks in the casing near the folding hinges.

I am now convinced that it's better not to buy combined over-ear headphones cheaper than $100.
Good sound
Convenient folding design
Cheap plastic construction
Background noise in silence
Weak size adjuster on the arm
The track switching mechanism is not very convenient

model with serious flaws

Commented a month ago. The bracket broke, not a warranty case. Wrapped it with the legendary duct tape. Then the plastic started to crack at the mounting points. They fell off the table, still work but don't produce sound. Everything inside is intact. Headphones to the trash after 3 months. Money down the drain.

Everything would be good, but the plastic on the earphones would be worse than filth. For 2 months, the shackle broke and cracks appeared in the areas of reinforcement

Phillips products have always been of good quality at a reasonable price. The TAH5205 full-size headphones, which hit the market in the summer of 2021, are no exception. Convenient, practical and inexpensive model immediately fell in love with users. Let's see what.

Construction and design

Headphones are made of nice-looking and touch matte plastic in black or white. The assembly is solid, nothing creaks, no backlash, at least at first. The wide headband and leatherette ear cushions do not squeeze the head and ears, everything is easily adjustable, the fit is very comfortable, put it on and forgot after 5 seconds.

Add here a folding design, a detachable 3.5 mm cable that is comfortable in length, a USB-C charging port, and we get a very nice and ergonomic headset for every day.

Management and communication

Headphones quickly pair with the device, moreover, they remember a lot of connections, and the latter is given priority. Management is simple. All buttons and connectors are located on one bowl. This is a multifunctional button for switching tracks and managing calls, a volume rocker, power buttons, bass boost, USB and mini-jack connectors, and a light indicator. The latter, by the way, has digital echo and noise suppression, which makes phone calls quite high quality. The interlocutor hears you perfectly, especially in a quiet and calm place.

Sound

Despite the support of only the standard SBC codec, the sound in Bluetooth headphones is very good and the unpretentious listener will be generally satisfied. All the same, 40-mm emitters with neodymium magnets do their job. For those who will not have enough bass and attack in compositions, the Bass Boost mode will help. Well, lovers of a more natural sound will be able to appreciate its quality over the wire.

battery life

Headphones show good battery life — up to 29 hours at a volume level of 60%, if the bass boost mode is not enabled, and somewhere up to 20 with it. A full charge will take about 2 hours, but a fast one will take only 15 minutes. During this time, we managed to charge the device that ran down somewhere by 15% or 3-4 hours of work, which could not but please.

In general, Philips TAH5205 made a positive impression. Solid, ergonomic, cute, with good sound and battery life. For $60 you can't ask for anything better.
