With the arrival of the Pocophone X1 from Xiaomi, the perception of what a good mid-range phone should be has fundamentally changed. Somehow, the Chinese managed to equip the "Poco" with a top-tier Snapdragon 845 chip and set the model's price at around just $300 at the start of sales.
Power in the "iron" heart
The powerful processor "under the hood" of the mobile device works in conjunction with Adreno 630 graphics and 6 GB of RAM, providing record-breaking performance in all tasks without exception. The model handles games and "heavy" applications "at maximum settings." To prevent the user from encountering throttling, a thermal tube for chip cooling is added to the smartphone's design.
Modest appearance
The appearance of the Xiaomi Pocophone X1 is more modest: the gadget is clad in unremarkable plastic "armor" without any distinctive features. The device's display stretches 6.18 inches diagonally and shows an image with a resolution of 2246x1080 pixels. Paying tribute to modern trends, there is a notch at the top of the screen for the earpiece and a 20 MP selfie camera along with service sensors. The rear camera set, in turn, consists of 12 + 5 MP modules. It takes photos in the spirit of classic mid-range smartphones and has artificial intelligence functions for scene recognition in the frame.
The new flagship killer
The model's menu interface differs from the usual MIUI. The fact is that on top of Xiaomi's proprietary launcher, there is also the POCO Launcher shell, and Android 8.1 is used as the base for them. The only thing the smartphone lacks is an NFC chip, which, in the era of rapid development of contactless payment systems, is disappointing. However, the gadget's battery is in good shape — a 4000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology powers the smartphone's electronic components for one and a half to two days in a row. Considering the device's advantages, it is now the Pocophone that is destined to be called the "flagship killer" instead of the well-known OnePlus. At least, it truly is.
