The TL1600 speaker system from the American manufacturer Polk Audio is a great addition to the interior and a pleasure to listen to. A set of compact bookshelf speakers with an active subwoofer will cost about $600.

The Magnificent Six

The set is represented by 4 satellites with a height of 16.5 cm, a 38 cm long centre channel and a subwoofer in the form of a cube 35x32x32 cm. All together it weighs 15 kg, of which the subwoofer accounts for 9 kg, the centre - 1.5 kg, and the satellites - 0.84 kg. Slightly futuristic design, white or black finish with piano lacquer "Blackstone" gives the system a spectacular look and does not give the impression of cheapness.

Variability of installation and connection

Special suspension slots and threaded bolt holes, suitable for any brackets, allow satellites to be placed almost anywhere: on shelves, walls, racks. And gold-plated 5-pin clips ensure a secure connection in any application.

What's on board

The system operates in the 40 – 22000 Hz range and demonstrates impressively detailed and transparent sound with good scene definition, soft bass and bright highs. The ultra-small long-throw midbass, tuned with proprietary Dynamic Balance technology, withstands high volume without distortion. Time Lens technology (horn loading of speakers and an acoustic lens built into the grills) aligns the acoustic centers of the tweeter and midbass in the same plane, achieving an perfect frequency balance.

The 8-inch subwoofer driver is loaded on the bass-reflex port and directed to the floor, so it does an excellent job with the bass component without obvious drawbacks. The only thing that can be presented to the subwoofer is some complexity of tuning due to sensitive controls.

Otherwise, the Polk Audio TL1600 will please the owners with everything: sound, appearance, ergonomics. An excellent modern solution for small rooms.
