Memory Expansion
QNAP TS-251D is one of the most functional dual-drive NAS servers. It is built on a high-performance, by NAS standards, dual-core Intel Celeron J4005 processor with a frequency of 2 GHz. It can be equipped with 2 GB or 4 GB of RAM, and with two SO-DIMM slots, the RAM capacity can be expanded up to 8 GB. The 4 GB of flash memory soldered on the motherboard has the proprietary QTS operating system installed.
Hot Swap
QNAP TS-251D supports the installation of two drives: 3.5-inch HDDs, if the maximum volume is required (up to 2x16 TB), or 2.5-inch SSDs, if high speed is needed, especially in IOPS. It features a "hot swap" function for disks without the need to turn off the NAS. There is also a PCIe x4 slot where you can, through an adapter, install two M.2 SSDs, a Wi-Fi adapter, or a 10 Gbit/s Ethernet card. By default, the NAS is equipped with a 1 Gbit/s wired network adapter.
Video Decoding
The HDMI video output, as well as Intel Quick Sync hardware video decoding technology, allows the QNAP TS-251D to be used also as a media player. It supports all modern video codecs, including H.264 AVC, H.265 HEVC, and VP9 WebM, as well as outputting images to a TV at 4K@60Hz. Five USB ports, three of which are fast 3.2 Gen 1 (also known as 3.0), allow connecting all sorts of external devices (drives, smartphones, cameras) for file synchronization. There is a dedicated quick sync button on the case.
Artificial Intelligence
For even greater operational stability, the QNAP TS-251D is cooled by a seven-centimeter fan with automatic speed regulation. The QTS operating system offers virtually unlimited network capabilities: FTP, web server, BitTorrent, video surveillance, and much more. The cherry on top is the artificial intelligence algorithm QuMagie, which helps organize photos by faces, objects, or places.
