A new version of the console with an OLED display with a larger diagonal (7.4" versus 7" in the regular version) and HDR support. In addition to the screen, there are other changes: a new 6 nm AMD Sephiroth processor, faster LPDDR5 memory, Wi-Fi 6E, a larger 50 Wh battery.

The Steam Deck OLED with 512 GB is an upgraded version of the popular portable console from Steam, setting trends in the mobile gaming market. This version uses an OLED screen, providing vibrant colors and deep blacks. One of the key features of the Steam Deck is its SteamOS interface, adapted for a touchscreen and based on Arch Linux, with access to Steam's extensive game library, most of which have already been adapted for the mobile console.

The Steam Deck OLED is powered by a custom AMD processor (3.5 GHz frequency, Zen 2 architecture) with four physical cores and eight-thread processing capability. The graphical performance is ensured by the AMD RDNA 2 graphics processor with eight compute units running at frequencies up to 1.6 GHz. The device is equipped with 16 GB of LPDDR5 memory and offers an increased storage capacity compared to the original model, including a 512 or 1000 GB NVMe SSD.

This is a significant enhancement that greatly extends the ability to store a gaming library without the need for memory cards. Even though the console's hardware is somewhat outdated compared to new competitors, it still showcases respectable performance due to the 720p screen resolution, while most competitors are geared toward more demanding 1080p resolutions. In most games, the console delivers a framerate of 30 to 40 frames per second on medium graphics settings, although results may vary depending on the specific game.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Valve Steam Deck OLED 512GB is a versatile portable console that allows users to install various programs and emulators, making it ideal for playing older games and passing time in casual settings. The OLED screen is praised for its brightness and lack of PWM issues, offering a beautiful display with HDR support, particularly enhancing bright games like Forza Horizon. The device boasts impressive battery life, lasting up to 12 hours for casual games and around 6 hours for more demanding titles. Its ergonomic design and intuitive controls, including comfortable touchpads, enhance the gaming experience. While the console's price is considered high, the overall build quality and features justify the cost for many users. However, the sound quality is noted as a downside, with a flat and high-frequency output that may require headphones for a better audio experience. Despite its weight, the Steam Deck's ergonomic design ensures comfort during extended use. The package includes a convenient storage case, a screen cloth, and a fast charger, adding to its appeal for gamers who enjoy relaxing with games after a long day.

Cons

good model, like it

I've been using the console for about a year now, if you have extra money, you can take it, because I use this device when I just want to lie in bed and play something simple like stardew valley or on the road to kill time. If you don't have extra funds and this will be your main device to play, then you don't need a steam deck, better buy a set-top box or assemble a PC to play normal modern games.
Not bad, versatility in installing programs - you can install a bunch of emulators, etc. to play old games, a good thing to kill time, for example, when you are waiting for an order in a cafe or waiting at a car wash for your car to be washed
the price, I think it is overpriced, there is nothing really expensive about how much it costs, I would even like to know how much the company spends on creating 1 device, because to buy, for example, Xbox Series X, you need only 18 thousand and it will impress more
I recommend getting the 1TB version. Games are heavy now.

Compared to the non-OLED version, many aspects have noticeably improved! The battery lasts longer, the device overheating is significantly reduced (which probably also affected the battery), and the buttons at the bottom are much easier to press. VALVE has significantly addressed the drawbacks, so much so that I almost forgot about the previous version. The addition of a 1 TB version to the lineup is very pleasing.
Portability, multifunctionality.

Medicine from reality
Borrowed from a friend to test and fell in love with this device. I've handled quite a few portables and stationary consoles, and this device managed to surprise me in the most pleasant way.

I'd like to highlight the beautiful screen, with brightness below 50% there's no "PWM," which the Nintendo Switch OLED often struggles with. It has HDR that fully reveals itself in bright games like Forza Horizon 4/5. The terabyte version doesn't reflect and looks matte, so you don't see your intense gaming face on dark scenes.

Battery life is also at a very good level: up to 12 hours in simple casual games and up to 6 hours in the same Forza with medium settings and a fix at 50fps.

The controls are very convenient, ergonomic grip, large triggers (analog and with lots of settings for each game), and special kudos for the touchpads - very comfortable for cursor control in desktop mode.

Cooling works well, the fan barely whispers and doesn't distract at all.

Wi-Fi reception is decent (unlike the Switch).

A super convenient system, everything is intuitive and simple. But if you like to tinker with settings and piracy - there's that option too. A special delight - emulators, all the exclusives from the Switch run flawlessly, minimal hassle.

Although the weight is significant, thanks to the ergonomics - it's not noticeable and your hands don't get tired.

The package includes a cool storage case, a screen cloth, and a fast charger with a 2.5m cable.
I would name the price, but such a combine is probably not going to cost "three kopecks". What was really noticeable - the sound is flat, squeaky, and entirely high-frequency; you immediately want to put on headphones to avoid harming your ears with that sound mush. That's the only thing that makes the device feel cheap, although the stereo effect is nicely felt.

Polished to a Shine

The Steam Deck OLED is the 2023 updated version of the portable console from Valve, the company that effectively created the market for powerful portable gaming PCs. Despite numerous minor improvements, Valve remained true to its philosophy and did not engage in the megahertz race, focusing instead on ergonomics, autonomy, display, and details that truly impact comfort. As a result, a polished to perfection version of the already nearly perfect console was created, with the unique SteamOS interface, easy management, and a balanced body that is comfortable to hold for hours. It's not surprising that a huge community of enthusiasts has grown around the Steam Deck, creating custom settings, plugins, performance profiles, and even alternative firmware.

Bright and Colorful OLED Display

The main difference in the new version is the larger and higher quality 7.4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 720p and a frequency of 90 Hz. As expected of an OLED matrix, the image looks bright, contrast, and deep, with true black color. The hardware platform has been updated not for power, but for energy efficiency: the custom AMD processor on Zen 2 architecture with RDNA 2 graphics provides 3-4 hours of gameplay in demanding AAA projects and up to 9-10 hours in indie games. The console also became 30 grams lighter (now weighing 610 g), making it among the lightest models on the market — only the Nintendo Switch is lighter.

Not the Most Modern Technology

The main reason for criticism is the hardware component. Even at the time of release, it was not considered top-tier, and almost five years later, the processor on Zen 2 lags behind new solutions like Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Intel Lunar Lake. Nevertheless, thanks to the 720p resolution, the console consistently delivers 30–40 FPS in modern games at low graphics settings. In particularly heavy projects like Black Myth: Wukong, you will need to reduce the parameters to a minimum and use FSR upscaling or frame generation. But Valve never tried to position the Steam Deck as a PC replacement — it's a convenient platform to play indie hits like Hades 2, Balatro, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Dispatch, or to replay classics like the Witcher trilogy in a portable format.
