Being Apple's "ideological copy-pasteur", Xiaomi professes the same approach to the release of laptops as the company from Cupertino: the lineup includes several laptops of different class, which are simply updated once a year. So the Mi Gaming Laptop of 2019 is not much different from the model of 2018: there is the same IPS display with a frequency of 144 Hz and thin frames around it, the same minimalist case that is not at all gaming, the same comfortable keyboard with individual RGB backlighting, and that or a huge glass-coated trackpad.

Core i7 + 16GB RAM + GTX 1660 Ti

Not to break the working mechanism was the right decision. Ergonomics and durable, like a tank, case were almost the strengths of the laptop. In second place was the traditional Xiaomi price-performance ratio. In this case, we are talking about a bunch of 6-core Core i7 of the ninth generation (multi-threading, 4.5 GHz in boost, 12 MB cache) with 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1660 Ti graphics card with 6 GB of video memory and a 1024 GB M.2 SSD. And all this for a price of $ 1300 with a tail of dollars. Even if it's not the most profitable option available, you'll have to seriously try to find something better. In principle, with this configuration, you can comfortably play any modern game at Ultra settings and Full HD resolution, while receiving comfortable 55-60 frames per second.

Cold but very noisy

Unfortunately, the old laptop sores in the form of an unsuccessful cooling system have not disappeared. Firstly, it is quite loud even by the standards of gaming laptops roaring in the heat. Because of this, branded speakers with Dolby Atmos support are barely audible, you have to play exclusively with headphones. Secondly, the decision to hide the main air ducts was not the most successful. Thanks to them, the case seems solid and organic, and the coolers themselves quickly remove any excess heat. However, they do pick up any debris, lint, and pet hair little by little, requiring regular cleaning. In all other respects, this is a solid gaming laptop with no frills: 4 USB ports, LAN and dual-band Wi-Fi, HDMI for connecting to an external monitor or TV, and the most common battery that gives from 1.5 to 4.5 hours depending on the load.
