The main feature of any halogen lamp is a glass bulb filled with a special gas with halogen vapors (bromine or iodine). Most of them work on the principle of incandescence (with a metal thread), but there are also gas-discharge models. The first variety is more economical than conventional incandescent lamps; in addition, such lamps can be made compact and at the same time bright. The gas discharge principle is used in lamps of high power and brightness.
