In real installations, brass seals confidently on a gasket at G1/2" or G3/8", handles frequent disassembly and hose twisting, and in older homes with hard water is less prone to seizing. Compared to a fully plastic inlet, this fitting is heavier and more expensive, but it lasts longer and forgives human error—from a slightly over-tightened nut to a not perfectly aligned supply line.
