Seat unit

— a seat unit is a place for the child to sit (as opposed to a carrycot — see the relevant paragraph).

Babies transition to a sitting position in pushchairs at around 6-8 months when they become more active and can sit up independently. Seat units are a standard feature in all types of pushchairs, excluding classic and transformer pushchairs (refer to "Design"). Classic pushchairs use carrycots by design, while transformers employ a specialized device known as a convertible carrycots.
