Relay

— as the name implies, the key element of the design of such stabilizers is the relay, which provides switching between groups of transformer contacts and the necessary adjustment of the output voltage. The advantages of this type are low cost, high response speed and an extensive operating range at the input. On the other hand, relay regulators are not very accurate (due to step adjustment), and too sharp voltage drops can damage them. In addition, the relays themselves are quite loud, which can be a problem in residential areas.
