In fact, these devices are a kind of thyristors, so the main features of such stabilizers are the same as those of thyristor ones. Their advantages include accuracy of operation, fast switching, resistance to powerful currents and a low noise level, among the disadvantages are sensitivity to overheating, design complexity, large dimensions and rather high cost.
