Thus, dressage models have a deep seat and long wings to maintain close contact with the horse, jumping saddles have a flatter seat and short wings so that the rider can easily stand in the stirrups when performing jumps, and models for racing are made as lightweight as possible and allow the rider be in a half-tilt over the horse to reduce aerodynamic drag.
