— by definition, all tandoors, ceramic grills, ovens for cauldrons and grill pans are made round. But in barbecue grills (including models with smokehouses), smokehouses, and hearth grills, both a round shape and other options can be used. Let's consider each case separately.Round-shaped BBQ grills are useful mainly when you have to deal with small pieces of food, or with ingredients that are approximately the same length and width (for example, steaks). But for skewers, as well as oblong-shaped and long products (for example, some types of sausages), this form is much worse. In addition, with the same usable area, a round firebox uses less material than a rectangular or square one, which helps to reduce the cost. On the other hand, with the same overall dimensions of the device, a round grille has a smaller usable area than a rectangular or square one. All this is also true for models with a smoking function — adjusted for the features of round smokehouses described below.
Actually, in smokehouses, the round shape also helps to save material and reduce costs, but it somewhat complicates the uniform placement of products — compared to rectangular or square ones. Therefore, among smokehouses, this option is extremely rare.
Grills are a separate case. In such models, the round shape of the working surface simplifies manufacturing and reduces the cost compared to a square one. The disadvantage of this option is that it has a smaller usable area (with the same dimensions), as well as a smaller variety of temperatures: if a square surface is conditionally divided into at least three temperature zones (corners, edges, middle), then there are no round corners, and there are only two zones . This somewhat limits the possibilities for simultaneous cooking of different types of products.
