Tandoors

 

— a special type of oven, known primarily from the cuisine of Central Asia, but also used in other regions.

Modern tandoors are in many ways similar to the original stoves of this type: they are pitcher-shaped, vertically arranged and thick-walled (from 50 mm or more), and they run exclusively on solid fuel. Before starting work, the tandoor is heated, then products are loaded into it, and cooking takes place mainly due to the heat accumulated by the walls. At the same time, the large wall thickness in combination with a thermally insulating outer coating provides high efficiency and the ability to cook large volumes of dishes on one tab of fuel.

Among the most popular ways to use tandoors is baking bread and other dough products in a very original way: blanks are stuck directly to the heated inner walls of the oven, previously cleaned of ash and sprinkled with water. However, the matter is not limited to this: such ovens can also be used for frying (including barbecue), smoking products, preparing dried fruits, etc. In addition, modern tandoors usually have an interesting design and can become an original element of outdoor decor.
