Audio systems with coaxial output
Coaxial output
— a variation of the S/P-DIF interface that uses data transmission over an electrical cable with an RCA connector. Do not confuse this connector with a "regular" RCA output (see the relevant paragraph): in this case, the signal is transmitted in digital format over a single cable, which is enough even to work with multi-channel sound. S/P-DIF is one of the most popular digital audio interfaces used in modern audio and video equipment; its electrical version is not as resistant to interference as the optical one, but does not require special care in handling cables. The coaxial output in audio systems is primarily used to connect external speakers.coaxial output | clear | Save List |
