Inkjet plotters are relatively inexpensive, and they can make full colour prints with very high detail. On the other hand, this technology is poorly suited for printing in large volumes: the process is relatively slow, and prints are more expensive than, for example, laser ones. In addition, materials printed on such a plotter are initially only suitable for indoor use; for outdoor installations, either use protective coatings or use more sustainable technology such as UV or solvent
