The main advantage of this option over another type of autonomous power supply — batteries (see the relevant paragraph) — is the ability to quickly replace dead batteries with fresh ones and continue the game. In addition, nowadays, many brands of batteries are produced, so that specific elements can be selected as desired. You can even buy items in the form of rechargeable batteries and a charger for them. And if you buy two sets of batteries, interruptions in use are reduced to almost zero: while one set is in use, the second can be kept on charge.
The main disadvantage of such power supply is the inevitable additional expenses: the player will either have to constantly buy fresh batteries, or spend money on batteries and a charger. In addition, replaceable cells usually have a lower capacity than built-in batteries of similar dimensions; and the actual capacity and quality of batteries, usually, directly depend on the price. As a result, this type of power is used much less frequently than batteries, although it can also be found in fairly advanced and well-known devices — in particular, regular gamepads for Xbox 360, Xbox One and even Xbox Series X|S.
