ADSL
— connecting to the Internet through a fixed telephone network using ADSL technology. This technology allows you to access the Internet without occupying the line and without interfering with normal telephone conversations. A key benefit of ADSL is the ability to use existing telephone lines without the need for additional cabling. On the other hand, in terms of speed, this standard is noticeably inferior to LAN (Ethernet), in addition, the communication channel has an asymmetric ratio of speeds — up to 24 Mbps for reception and only up to 3.5 Mbps for transmission. Such a difference can create difficulties for some tasks, including very popular ones such as video calling and using torrents. So nowadays, ADSL is gradually being replaced by more advanced standards, although this technology is far from completely disappearing.
