For example, with the help of tilt-shift, you can take a picture in a "toy" style, in which the real scene will look like a miniature. A similar system has also been used in architectural photography (see "Direction"): it allows you to correct the distortion of straight lines that occur in some shooting modes, and when shooting with an open aperture, increase the depth of field.
