Conventional motor

— the lens has an autofocus system based on a conventional (non-ultrasonic) electric motor. Such systems are somewhat slower than ultrasonic systems and create background noise during operation, but they are significantly cheaper, and the difference in speed usually becomes critical only in the most difficult conditions, where fractions of a second play a role.
