— ability to play polyphonic sound signals. Initially, radiotelephone signals were monophonic — in the form of a "tweeter", at best capable of reproducing the simplest motive for individual notes. Polyphonic signals are much richer and more pleasing, and the most advanced phones can even play full-fledged music files like MP3s.
