Electric winches

— any winch is a device for moving goods, working by rotating the drum, on which the cable is wound (less often, the belt). The use of a cable/belt is the most noticeable difference between such devices and hoists (where a chain is used). Another, less noticeable, but more fundamental point is that the rotation on the winch drum is often transferred from the lever or engine directly, without additional mechanisms (except for drum models — see the relevant paragraph).Specifically, this category includes electric winches with a supply voltage of 230 V or 400 V — those that are not related to car models and are intended for stationary use, mainly in industrial and warehouse premises. The advantages of such models over manual ones are obvious: the user does not need to make any physical effort to lift the load. On the other hand, electric winches are noticeably more complicated and more expensive than manual winches, and also require a power connection and depend on the presence of voltage in the mains.
Note that in the presence of an electric carriage for automatic horizontal movement, such devices are usually referred to as telphers (see the relevant paragraph).
