Under the simple Yi symbols hides the name of one of the huge number of Xiaomi's "daughters" — the XiaoYi brand, which produces action cameras, home video surveillance systems and car recorders. Cavalry devices of the latter kind can become an important proof of innocence in the event of an accident or in the event of other emergency situations on the roads.

It is difficult to distinguish the common character traits of the Yi series models — each of them is good in its own way. For example, Yi DVRs in the form factor of action cameras with an object shifted relative to the centre of the front panel and a large screen on the rear end of the case are in high demand among motorists. They shoot video in FullHD resolution at 60 fps and have a field of view angle of up to 165°, which allows you to capture adjacent traffic lanes, sidewalk or curb in the frame.

Video recorders of the Xiaomi Yi line are often made in the form of a rectangular "block" with a protruding object.

Another common type of Xiaomi Yi car recorders is an overlay on the rear—view mirror with a touch screen and an additional remote camera on the "rear stern". The devices of the line carry on board a three-axis gravity sensor, a Wi-Fi adapter for wireless pairing with a smartphone, a backup battery for viewing video materials in case of problems with the power supply from the cigarette lighter socket.
