Such kits are intended mainly for minor repairs in the field; they are not designed to repair serious damage, but they are quite capable of “healing” a small puncture or cut, even if special tools are not at hand. Such an opportunity is useful even for home use; and for field trips, a repair kit is highly desirable. An obligatory element of the repair kit is patches (self-adhesive or supplemented with appropriate glue); in addition, the composition may include sealants for sealing joints, simple tools, etc.

Repair kits for mattresses are also sold separately; however, the key advantage of the "native" set is optimal compatibility with the corresponding product — both in terms of materials and colour of patches.
