In terms of design, speaker design and general positioning, the Xtreme speakers are reminiscent of the Flip series models: in shape, this is the same round tube with a capacious battery, passive radiators and a moisture-proof coating. The difference is that the company's engineers went further and took the Flip ideas to the extreme. In particular, the system of speakers and passive radiators has become noticeably more complex, full-fledged stereo sound has appeared, the average power has increased from 20 to 40 W, and the bass is played more deeply and clearly than on the Flip speakers.
If Flip were positioned as compact speakers for parties by the pool or at a picnic, then the Xtreme models are more of an analogue of the Jamaican sound system. Combine 2-3 speakers into a single sauna set and get a fairly powerful and loud disco sound. To make such a speaker easier to carry, the manufacturer equipped them with shoulder straps. To expand the functionality, he added a pack of additional USB and audio outputs, and also introduced a power bank function for charging a conventional smartphone or player.
Otherwise, we have the usual wireless speakers from JBL with a Bluetooth receiver for connecting to a sound source, a built-in JBL PartyBoost system for combining several speakers into an orchestra, convenient control from a mobile application and support for the Multiroom function. The case is usually made of plastic, which is covered with a layer of waterproof rubber or silicone (protection class IPX7/IP67). Earlier models used microUSB for charging; since 2020, all products have switched to USB C. The average battery life in all JBL Xtreme speakers is 15 hours. There is a speakerphone function with built-in echo and noise cancellation.
