In skating, the skier alternately rides on one or the other leg, pushing off with the other leg, while the skis are at an angle, with their tips outward. Models for this movement have a slightly shorter length than classic running sjkis (see the relevant paragraph), and can also be equipped with an edge for easy pushing off.
