Safety system

— a safety system is called a "harness" of strong belts, which the climber puts on directly on himself.

A similar system is attached to a climbing rope and, as the name suggests, is part of the belay. And its purpose is to evenly distribute the load during sharp jerks (primarily when falling from a great height with hanging on a rope). In addition, such products often provide devices for fixing additional equipment — for example, ice axes.

Full harnesses (full body) cover the hips, shoulders and torso of the climber, but there are also simpler harnesses — from the waist and a pair of hip belts.
