Drain hole

— a structural element that facilitates the draining of liquid from the pan. Actually, it almost never occurs in the form of a hole — a triangular (“nose”) or a rectangular ledge on the edge of the vessel is usually used, which plays the role of a guide groove. Such a protrusion allows you to quite accurately direct a narrow jet of liquid (for example, when pouring into a bottle). And some models have a specially designed lid, which, when drained, can play the role of a strainer.
