Corrosion protection

— a special coating (usually dark grey or black) that protects the canvas from corrosion. It is used only in steel shovels (see "Blade material"), and made of ordinary (not stainless) steel — thanks to the coating, such a tool can be made more durable without significantly increasing its cost.
