Universal

— the traditional way of sharpening is due to the contact of the blade with the edge of a rotating abrasive disk several centimeters thick. The tool being sharpened is usually supposed to be held by hand. This, on the one hand, gives very extensive possibilities and makes it easy to choose the position of the workpiece relative to the disk. On the other hand, the quality of work depends largely on the skill of the user — however, some advanced machines for universal sharpening use adjustable clamps, which simplifies the task. But from the unambiguous shortcomings, one can name the fact that some types of work (for example, sharpening chains) on such machines are poorly implemented, or even not available at all.
