Another advantage of wood is naturalness and environmental friendliness. At the same time, it is quite functional, durable and reliable material, although in some respects it is inferior to plastic: in particular, wood tends to absorb kitchen dirt and odours, and it can be quite difficult to clean it. Because of this, the service life of wooden coasters may be shorter than that of plastic ones, although these materials are approximately the same in strength.
