Manual sharpeners

— manual sharpeners are called sharpeners, which must be held in hands during operation; some models have a design that allows you to stand stably on the table, but holding in your hands is still a standard option. Usually they have a slot design: a slot is responsible for sharpening, in which there are two abrasive pads at an angle (sometimes metal rods that work according to the principle of musat, see below). Such slots are most often made several, for different processing intensity; manual models with this principle of operation are best suited primarily for the role of “duty” home sharpeners — for example, for periodically updating kitchen knives. However, among manual sharpeners there are more versatile options — for example, designs with the Lansky sharpening system (see the relevant paragraph).
