Rubberized handle

— the presence of a rubber coating on the handle of the hammer.

Such a coating can be combined with any handle material (see above), and for metal and fibreglass it is almost mandatory. The main function of rubber is to provide a secure hold: this material itself is not prone to slip, and for additional security, its surface can be made corrugated. In addition, the soft and resilient rubber absorbs vibrations to a certain extent, even if the hammer does not have a special anti-vibration system (see the relevant paragraph).
