Hammers with interchangeable heads

Interchangeable head

— the ability to replace the "native" hammer head — most often only the head itself, without replacing the entire head.

This feature is found in tools that use a working part made of rubber or plastic (see "Striker Material"). Due to the softness of such materials, the strikers wear out as they work and, with intensive use, can quickly become unusable; in such cases, it is cheaper to replace the working part of the head than to buy a new hammer.
