Left handed guitars

Left handed

— this category includes guitars with an asymmetrical layout, designed for guitarists who play with a "left" grip — that is, with the right hand on the frets.

The main parts that introduce asymmetry into the design of the guitar are the cutout of the soundboard (see the relevant paragraph) and the protective overlay on the top soundboard (pickguard). In models for left-handers, these parts can be found both together and separately. However, anyway, they are mirrored relative to the neck — that is, not to the right, but to the left of it (if you look at the vertically standing guitar from the front). Accordingly, when held with a “left” grip, the notch and/or pickguard will be below the strings, as it should be.

Note that models with a symmetrical layout (for example, most classical guitars) do not have a right-handed or left-handed specialization — you just need to rearrange the strings for the appropriate grip. Therefore, left-handed guitars are not distinguished among them.
